COMMERCIAL SPIN-OFFS

Drawing upon years of applied research and R&D investments from NASA and other leading government/commercial institutions, ITD seeks to foster partnerships with commercial enterprises to develop technologies that are both applicable to NASA mission needs and contribute to commercial competitiveness in global markets. These efforts - building upon the ITD’s mission to support technology transfer, we strive to strengthen the nation's prosperity and quality of life.

InTime was created in February 2003 to provide precision agriculture products for the agriculture industry. InTime's focus is to provide prescriptions for foliar chemical applications which directs the chemical to be sprayed on specific locations in the field. The prescriptions are created after interaction with the producer or scout. The producer or scout determines what areas of differing vegetation vigor should receive the chemical application. Maps of vegetation vigor are based on remotely sensed imagery acquired from airborne sensors. The prescription is generated as a digital file and is loaded into a computer in the chemical applicator. The applicator detects its position in the field by using GPS positioning. It then opens the spray nozzles when it is over the location that the prescription has designated as a spray area.
